Getting Started
Your team's conversations, tasks, files, and decisions all live in one place in Basecamp. You can see what's happening, find what you need, and keep work moving without chasing email threads or scheduling another meeting.
Start with the guide that matches your role, then use the rest of this page to get your bearings.
Start with your role
How you get into Basecamp, and what you do first, depends on why you're here.
- Getting started as an owner — You're setting up a new account and bringing people into it.
- Getting started as a team member — Someone at your company invited you to an account where your team already works.
- Getting started as a client — A team you're working with invited you to their project.
If you got an email invitation and the team who sent it works somewhere other than your company, follow the client guide.
What to do next
Once you're in, these three cover most of what a new person needs.
- Creating and setting up a Project — Make your first project, pick the tools it needs, and add the people working on it.
- The Home Screen — Where your projects, assignments, and recent activity show up. Start here to learn the layout.
- The Basecamp Way To Work — How we run our own company on Basecamp, and the habits that make it work for a team.
