Subscribing and unsubscribing from Discussions
Basecamp keeps you updated about discussions based on [[your account and project settings]], but you can also control notifications at the individual thread level. If a conversation is relevant to you, subscribe to stay in the loop. If it isn't you can unsubscribe quickly.

Subscribing to a thread
At the bottom of any message, to-do, or discussion thread, you'll see a 🔔 Notifications button. Click it to subscribe. Basecamp will notify you whenever someone comments on that thread.
Unsubscribing from a thread
If you're already subscribed, the button at the bottom of the thread will read "Don't notify me". Click that to unsubscribe. You won't receive any further notifications on that thread unless someone @mentions you or assigns the item to you.
Unsubscribing via email
Every Basecamp notification email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it to stop receiving notifications for that specific thread without logging in.
Chat notifications
Chat notifications work separately from discussions subscriptions. In any Chat room, look for the notifications button in the upper right corner to start receiving notifications, or click it again to stop. The counter next to Chats in your Unreads will show the number of new posts in rooms you're following.

Check-in notifications
If you're subscribed to a check-in question, you'll be notified when others answer it. To unsubscribe, click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of a check-in notification email, or use the ••• menu on the check-in question itself.
NOTE: You can't start or stop other people's notifications for a check-in. You can add or remove people from being asked the question, which automatically subscribes or unsubscribes them from answers.

Closing comment threads
If a thread doesn't need any further replies, you can close comments on it. Click the ••• menu on the post and choose "Close comments." Anyone who tries to reply by email after comments are closed will get a notification letting them know.
Closing comments also turns off Boosts on that thread. Existing comments and boosts aren't affected.
Only the post author, admins, and account owners can close comments.
