@-mentions

Need to get someone's attention? Type @ followed by their name anywhere you can write in Basecamp: comments, chats, messages, etc... Basecamp will suggest names to choose from. Select the person you want and they'll get a notification pointing them directly to what you wrote.

@mentions stand out in Unreads so they're harder to miss than regular notifications.

Mentioning a group

If you need to reach several people at once, you can @mention a Group. Type @ followed by the group name and select it from the suggestions, everyone in that group will be notified as long as they have access to the project.

If you're in an All-access project, @mentioning a person or group will automatically add them to the project if they weren't already on it. Use group mentions with care in All-access projects. It can add a lot of people to your project at once, so make sure you mean it!

NOTE: If someone has their notifications for that project set to "Don't notify me," they won't receive @mention notifications for that project. If you need to reach someone urgently, a Ping is a more reliable way to get their attention.
