Cancelling your Basecamp account
Cancellation is immediate and permanent. Once canceled, your account is inaccessible and your data is scheduled for deletion. Only account owners can cancel.
Before you cancel, export your data. See Export Your Basecamp Data for instructions, and make sure the download finishes completely before proceeding. Canceling mid-download will interrupt the export.
What happens when you cancel
- Cancellation takes effect the moment you confirm it. You won't be charged again.
- Your account becomes inaccessible immediately.
- All account data is permanently deleted after 30 days. If you need to get back in before then, contact support.
⚠️ Auto-cancellation: If your account has been frozen for 6 months, Basecamp will cancel it automatically. We'll notify you before this happens. See our Cancellation Policy for details.
How to cancel
From the Home page, click the ⚿ Adminland button on the left side. Scroll down to Owner Actions and click Cancel this account. Confirm on the following page.
If the account owner isn't available
Only an account owner can cancel the account. If the current owner is unavailable, see [[Owner and Admin Actions]] for information on transferring ownership or contact support.
