Using the global calendar

The global Calendar shows events and assignments across all your projects.

It also includes your company calendar, which isn’t tied to a specific project. Use it for company-wide events or anything that applies more broadly.

Open Calendar from the Basecamp menu or press 2 from anywhere in Basecamp.

Use the sidebar and filters to focus on specific projects, people, or types of activity. Switch between views like Starred projects, Just me, Everyone, Events, or Events + tasks to quickly narrow down what you see.

💡 TIP: Turn off projects you don’t need to focus on what matters right now.

Viewing project calendars

Each project has its own calendar for project-specific work.

Open a project and click Calendar to view that project's calendar.

Project calendars show only events and assignments for that project.

💡 TIP: Want to come back to an event later? Use Bookmarks to save it in your Bookmarks tray.

Creating an event

Create events from either the global calendar or a project calendar.

Click New event to create an event.

From the global calendar, choose whether the event belongs to a project or your account calendar.

From a project calendar, events are created directly in that project.

Add details to your event:

  • Set a date and time, or make it an all-day event
  • Create multi-day events if needed
  • Add notes for additional context
  • Include a link (like a Zoom or Google Meet link) for quick access
  • Circle an event to make it stand out

💡 TIP: You can type event details naturally (for example, “Team call Friday at 10am”), and Basecamp will set the date and time automatically.

Add people to an event to keep them informed. When someone is included, they’ll be notified when the event is created, receive updates if it changes, and get reminders before it starts.

Basecamp automatically sends reminders:

  • All-day events: reminder at 9 AM on the day of the event
  • Timed events: reminder the day before and again one hour before

Set events to repeat on a schedule. Repeat events daily, weekly, or monthly, or create a custom schedule. Recurring events continue until you set an end date or stop them.

💡 TIP: Switch to “Events only” to focus on meetings and milestones without assignments.

Viewing your upcoming events

See your upcoming events from anywhere in Basecamp.

Press Shift + E, or select My events from My bar to open your events.

If you have upcoming events, they’ll appear in a list. Click an event to open it.

If there are no upcoming events in the next 7 days, you’ll see a message with the option to view all future events.

Events happening today appear in the Do Today (Shift + I) section of My bar. This helps you stay on top of what’s coming up without needing to check the calendar.

You’ll receive a reminder shortly before an event starts:

  • A notification appears about 15 minutes before the event
  • If the event includes a link (like Zoom), you’ll see a Join button directly in the reminder

Subscribing to a calendar

Subscribe to your calendar in another app to keep everything in sync.

You can subscribe to a full project calendar or individual events.

To subscribe to the global calendar, click on Subscribe to this calendar... on the top right. This subscription will honor any filters applied to the calendar.
