Inviting People
You've got the Basecamp account, now it's time to add your team. Before anyone can contribute to your projects, they need to be invited to your account. Only Admins can invite new users — if you don't see the option, ask an Admin on your account to send the invite.
All team and outsider users can invite people on Basecamp accounts created before 2023.
To get started, click "Invite people to the account" on the left side of the Home screen.

Step 1: Choose a user type
Basecamp asks who you're inviting before sending the invitation. There are three options:
- Someone who works at your company. Full team members. They can create projects, add people to projects, and be made admins.
- An outside collaborator, partner, contractor, or guest. People who don't work at your company but need access to collaborate on projects. They have the same access as team members on the projects they're added to, but can't create new projects or invite others.
- A client you're doing work for. Clients can access the projects you've added them to, but can't create projects, invite people, or become admins. You can also control what parts of a project they see. (See more on what clients can see and do on your projects.)

NOTE: The user type is kept across all projects on your account. Users cannot be Clients on one project and Team/Outsiders on another project.
Step 2: Send the invitation
Enter the person's name and email address. To invite multiple people at once, click the "+" button to add more rows.

Click "Email invitation now" and Basecamp sends them an invite.
Step 3: Choose their projects
After sending the invite, you'll have the option to add the new user to projects right away.
People can only see projects they've been added to. If your account has 100 projects and you add someone to one, they won't know the other 99 exist.
