How secure is Basecamp?
Security is core to how Basecamp is built and operated. Your data is backed up daily across multiple locations, and our infrastructure is designed to stay up even when individual servers fail.
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest
All data traveling between you and Basecamp is encrypted over HTTPS. Files you upload are encrypted at rest. Our daily backups are encrypted with GPG. Credit card transactions are processed on a PCI-compliant network using the same encryption standards used by banks — we never store your card details ourselves.
Physical and network security
Our servers are protected by biometric locks, round-the-clock surveillance, and on-site security staff. The network runs on a dedicated, firewalled infrastructure that's actively monitored. We keep our software updated with the latest security patches and work with security researchers to stay current with best practices.
