Basecamp on Desktop
The Basecamp desktop app is a progressive web app (PWA) — it lives in your browser but runs in its own window, separate from your tabs. You get the full Basecamp experience with your login and notification preferences saved, without installing anything beyond your existing browser.
Sign into your Basecamp account in your browser, then follow the steps for your browser below.
Installing on Chrome
Available on Mac, Windows and Linux.
Click the install icon in the address bar — it looks like a monitor with a download arrow. Chrome will open Basecamp in its own window from that point on.

Available on Mac, Windows and Linux.
Installing on Safari
Available on Mac only.
Go to File > Add to Dock. Basecamp will appear in your Mac's Dock and open in its own window.
🗒️ NOTE: For Basecamp to badge the Dock icon with your unread count, make sure badge notifications are turned on in your Basecamp notification settings.
Installing on Edge
Available on Windows.
Click the ⋯ menu in the top-right corner of the browser, select Apps, then choose Install Basecamp.
Copying a page URL
The PWA doesn't show a traditional address bar, so grabbing a URL takes one extra step. You might need this when sharing a link or contacting support.
- Chrome: Click the ⋮ menu at the top right of the app, then click Copy URL.
- Safari: Go to Edit > Copy Link.
- Edge: Click the ⋯ menu at the top right, go to More tools, and select Copy link.
