Admin Pro Pack features

Admin Pro Pack gives account owners and admins tighter control over who can do what in Basecamp — from restricting Pings and public links to enforcing two-factor authentication and managing chat history. It's designed for teams that need more oversight and governance than Basecamp's default permissions provide.

Admin Pro Pack is included with the Pro Unlimited package. On other packages, an account owner can add it as an upgrade via Adminland > Handle billing, invoices, packages, and upgrades > See your options. The upgrade is $50/month on monthly Basecamp Plus plans and $540/year on yearly Basecamp Plus plans.

Restrict who can send Pings

By default, anyone on the account can Ping anyone else. With this setting, you can disable Pings for specific companies — useful when you want client or outside collaborator communication to stay in project Chat rooms rather than private conversations.

If you disable Pings for someone you've exchanged Pings with before, the conversation history remains visible but neither party can send new messages.

Restrict who can edit project details

By default, anyone with access to a project (except clients) can edit its name, description, and tools. With this setting, only the project creator, admins, and owners can make those changes.

Restrict who can edit people on a project

By default, anyone with project access (except clients and outside collaborators) can add or remove people from a project. With this setting enabled, only owners, admins, and the project creator can modify who's on a project.

🗒️ NOTE: This setting doesn't affect All-access projects. Even with this setting on, anyone can change their own participation type or leave a project using the ••• menu.

Restrict who can move, archive, and delete content

By default, anyone with project access (except clients) can move, archive, or delete messages, events, to-dos, and other content. With this setting, only owners, admins, and the original content creator can do so.

🗒️ NOTE: The original creator can't archive or delete their content if it has comments from other users. In that case, an admin or owner will need to handle it.

By default, anyone on a project (except clients) can generate a public sharing link for messages, to-do lists, and other content. With this setting, only account owners and admins can create public links.

Limit editing and deleting comments and chats

This setting gives everyone a 15-minute window to edit or delete their own comments and chat messages after posting. Once that window closes, only admins and owners can delete the content — no one can edit it.

This is useful for teams that need to preserve the integrity of the record after the fact.

Require two-factor authentication

Enforce 2FA for all account members. Once enabled, anyone who hasn't already set up 2FA will be prompted to do so on their next login.

🗒️NOTE: Clients are not affected by the account-wide 2FA requirement.

Change Ping and Chat history settings

By default, Basecamp keeps browseable, searchable transcripts of every Ping and Chat for as long as the account exists. With this setting, choose how long Basecamp holds onto that history: Forever, 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, or 2 years.

Set Pings and Chats separately. Pings are private conversations between individuals, so only the participants see that history. Chats are real-time group conversations inside a project, so everyone on the project sees it — which may be reason to keep a shorter window there.

Once a message passes the limit you set, Basecamp permanently deletes it along with any attachments. Deleted transcripts can't be recovered.

Clean up completed to-dos and cards with Clean Sweep

By default, completed to-dos and cards stay in a project indefinitely. With Clean Sweep, Basecamp archives them automatically 30 days after they're marked complete, so To-do Lists and Card Tables stay focused on active work instead of accumulating a long done pile.

In Adminland, go to Clean Sweep, choose Automatically after 30 days, and click Save.

Switching back to Manually stops future sweeps but doesn't bring back anything Basecamp already archived. Those items stay in the project's archive, where you can restore them individually.

30 days is the only automatic interval. There's no way to set a shorter or longer window.

Set Out of Office for users

Admins can set Out of Office status on behalf of any user on the account. Click on someone's avatar to open their profile card, then click Set Out of Office and choose the date range.
