Browser Troubleshooting

If Basecamp isn't loading or behaving as expected, these steps resolve most browser-related issues. If you're on the desktop or mobile app, start with resetting the app first.

Is Basecamp having trouble?

Before troubleshooting your browser, check if the issue is on our end. Visit our Status page or our X profile to see if there are any active incidents. If everything looks fine there but you're still having trouble, read on.

If you're connected to a VPN, try turning it off — VPNs can interfere with Basecamp. If the issue only appears in one browser, clearing that browser's cache and cookies is usually the fix.

Reset your app

Desktop app

If the Basecamp desktop app for Mac or Windows isn't loading correctly, resetting it is the best first step. Open the desktop app, click Basecamp in the top left menu bar, and select Reset.... The app will reopen and prompt you to log in.

Mobile app

On iPhone or iPad, force-quit the app and reopen it. Open the App Switcher, find Basecamp, and swipe up to close it. Then reopen it from your Home Screen.

On Android, press and hold the Basecamp app icon, tap App info, then tap Force Stop. Reopen the app.

Browser extension conflicts

Some extensions can interfere with how Basecamp loads, particularly privacy tools, ad blockers, and script managers. If you're running into problems, try disabling your extensions one at a time to identify the culprit.

Commonly reported extensions include uBlock Origin, Grammarly (especially if images are behaving oddly), and TamperMonkey.

You can also try opening Basecamp in an Incognito or Private window, which disables most extensions by default.

Clear your cache and cookies

Your cache stores temporary page data; cookies store your login information and site preferences. Clearing both is the most effective way to resolve loading issues, unexpected logouts, or stale content. Most browsers let you do this in one step.

  1. In the menu bar, go to Chrome > Delete browsing data.
  2. Click Clear browsing data.
  3. Set the time range to All time.
  4. Check Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data.
  5. Click Delete data.

To clear the cache:

  1. Go to Safari > Settings > Advanced and check Show features for web developers.
  2. Go to Develop in the menu bar and click Empty Caches.

To clear cookies:

  2. Search for basecamp.com and 37signals.com, select them, and click Remove.
  3. Click Done.
  1. In the menu bar, go to History > Clear Recent History.
  2. Set the time range to Everything.
  3. Check Cache and Cookies.
  4. Click Clear.
  1. Click in the top right and go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
  2. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
  3. Set the time range to All time.
  4. Check Cached images and files and Cookies and other site data.
  5. Click Clear now.
