References and Links

References connect related work across Basecamp. When you link to a message, to-do, card, event, document, or file, Basecamp automatically creates a reference between them.

This makes it easy to see where something was discussed and keep context connected - no matter where the conversation happened.

Add a link to any Basecamp item to create a reference between related work.

Paste a link into a message, comment, to-do, card, document, or event. When you post it, Basecamp automatically creates a reference between the two items.

This connects conversations, tasks, and files so everything stays linked together.

Viewing references

References appear alongside comments on an item.

Open the References tab to see where that item has been mentioned elsewhere. Each reference links back to the original context, so you can quickly jump between related work.

📝 NOTE: You’ll only see references from projects and conversations you have access to.
